Thanksgiving is a time to reflect on what we have to be thankful for and to express those thanks to each other -- in our families and in our communities. In that spirit, please know that I can never say thank you enough for your many contributions to improve the health, safety and independence of Oregonians. Thank you for all that you do. I'm proud and honored to be working on a daily basis with such wonderful, committed and skilled individuals.
Thanksgiving is also a time of tradition and reunion, and it is a time when people exchange messages of thanks and warm wishes with relatives, colleagues and those near and dear to them.
I've always liked that part of the holiday the best of all.
As you know, it has been a tough couple of years for our state and our nation, and many individuals and families are living in uncertain and challenging circumstances. But as you demonstrate every day, DHS and OHA are a community of caring professionals working to improve the lives of others. I am proud of your work, and you are an inspiration to me and many others.
I encourage everyone to take time this holiday to stop and think about the spirit of Thanksgiving -- and express those thanks to the people with whom we work and live. At times, we all need a "spark" from another person, and your own expression of thanks to others may be just what they really needed.
Thank you for all you do. Have a safe and happy Thanksgiving weekend.
