Labor Day greetings

"Surround yourself with people who take their work seriously, but not themselves, those who work hard and play hard."
~Colin Powell

The most valuable resource we have at the Department of Human Services and Oregon Health Authority is you, the people who work here.

Whether you are on the front line with clients, customers, providers and public, or you work behind the scenes, the work you do matters to the people of this state. Everyone makes an important contribution to our mission.

Your work matters to the children we keep safe, the seniors and people with disabilities we help to live with dignity. It matters to the people we help to stay healthy or whose illnesses and addictions we help to heal, the families who need just a little help to stay stable. And it matters to every single Oregonian who counts on our state's public health system.

As we head into the Labor Day holiday, please know that I join the people whose lives you touch every day in being grateful for the work you do. Please enjoy your long weekend with friends and family.

And again, thank you for all you do.
