November 2010 Oregon Health Policy Board Update The Oregon Health Policy Board met November 9, 2010 in Portland where the board reviewed the draft of Oregon’s Action Plan for Health. They also heard presentations on health equity, health improvement plan recommendations, and medical liability recommendations. The board met again on November 16, 2010 in Portland, where they reviewed the revised draft of Oregon’s Action Plan for Health. They heard presentations on public employers health purchasing recommendations and healthcare workforce recommendations. Staff also provided a report on Oregon’s health insurance exchange and publicly owned health insurance plan. The board holds its next meeting on December 14, 2010 in Portland. Committee Updates Oregon Health Improvement Plan Committee The committee's recommendations for an Oregon Health Improvement Plan were presented to the board on November 9. The presentation is available online. Input on the recommendations is being accepted until November 19, 2010 by e-mail to ohpb.info@state.or.us. Health Information Technology Oversight Council (HITOC) In October and early November, HITOC's three workgroups on finance, legal and policy, and technology met and continued work. The group has completed presenting to the board for this calendar year. Please visit the HITOC website for more information about the council’s work and upcoming meetings. Incentives and Outcomes Committee The Incentives and Outcomes committee presented its recommendations to the board on October 12. The committee met again on October 27. The public input period on the recommendations concluded on November 5. A final report will be submitted to the board for consideration. The committee is not scheduled to meet again in 2010. Public Employers Health Purchasing Committee The committee's recommendations were presented to the board on November 16. The presentation is posted on the OHPB public input opportunities website. Health Equity Policy Review Committee Tricia Tillman, administrator of the Office of Multicultural Health and Services and staff to the committee, presented a committee report to the board on November 9. The committee has been working with the board's committees and staff to ensure that policy recommendations will ensure health equity. The report included background information on racial and ethnic health disparities and the committee's initial recommendations to the board of the steps that will improve disparities. The presentation is posted on the OHPB website. Healthcare Workforce Committee The committee's recommendations were presented to the board on November 16.
