Update on Cover Oregon Technology Transition Project

"It is only through labor and painful effort, by grim energy and resolute courage, that we move on to better things."
~Theodore Roosevelt
(1858–1919, 26th President of the United States)

In a few months, online enrollment for Medicaid and individual private health coverage will be different from what it is today.

Starting with this fall's open enrollment, which begins November 15, private health plan enrollments will be done through the federal exchange, healthcare.gov.

At the same time, the Oregon Health Authority (OHA) will take over the application process for Medicaid applications. There will be an online form that will be automated and will not require the data entry that we are doing today for most cases.

You can track the progress of the project at this special website that has been set up for the Transition Project. Status reports are posted for the two phases of the project every week.

Additionally, in the weeks and months to come there will be more information about how this new process will work. I know that OHA and DHS staff will have a lot of questions about the new process. Trainings and educational materials will be put together. We will have fact sheets and information for our stakeholders up on our website and available for you to share. My goal is that you will have all the information you need whether you work directly with OHP clients, work with our stakeholders, or just want to explain the changes to your family across the dinner table.

A great many people at OHA are working very hard to make sure that the transition is complete and Oregonians can enroll successfully on November 15. Countless others are picking up extra work to support their coworkers.

Please know that your hard work is noticed and deeply appreciated. Thank you.
