Honoring our labor

"All labor that uplifts humanity has dignity and importance and should be undertaken with painstaking excellence."
~Martin Luther King Jr.

Just a short note this week with Labor Day greetings.

As we light up our barbeques or head to the beach, let's also remember the significance of the holiday in recognizing the economic and social contributions of workers in our nation – and our state. In fact, in 1887 Oregon became the first state to officially declare a Labor Day holiday, which is something we all should be proud of.

Speaking of being proud, I am particularly proud of all of us who work at the Oregon Health Authority and of our commitment to the people of Oregon. Our contributions are many. Thanks to each and every one for all you do to improve the health of Oregonians.

Have a great weekend.
