This week our state and our country experienced two horrible, violent events. Tuesday’s news from the Clackamas Town Center Mall stunned us all and as I write this, stories are emerging about another mass shooting at a school in Newtown, Connecticut.
Words of comfort feel inadequate and hollow in the face of grief of the families, friends and communities of those who have been lost or harmed. Three dead and one injured in Oregon and an unknown number on the other side of the country.
I know we are all searching in our own way to understand these tragedies. Like many of you, I am making an extra effort to check in with family and friends because the world suddenly seems more dangerous and life more precious.
